Local Vendor Spotlight: ABCD Farmhouse

We're excited to announce the beginning of local vendor spotlights! Our first vendor is local farmer/soap maker from Palmyra ABCDfarmhouse. Here's a few of Ashley's As to our Qs:

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself/your mission/family/what you create or farm. (In other words, whatever you’d like to talk about here). ;)
We are ABCDfarmhouse (A-Ashley, B-Blakely, D-David, C-Carter) a small family farm located in Palmyra, WI. Everyday feels like magic on our farm. We make handcrafted soaps and other body products utilizing as much as our animal products as possible. Such things as goats milk, honey, beeswax and eggs are used. We also offer farm tours, soap classes and canning classes to help teach people about our way of life. Our goal is to be as self sustaining as possible and to feed our family and friends straight from the farm.

2. What’s your favorite thing to do on/at the farm?
Share our love and knowledge with visitors. The wonder and fascination in their eyes is what feeds my drive to continue to do what I love.

3. Do you have a go-to recipe to share? And why is it your #1 go-to?
We raise meat rabbits and our go to recipe that we feed large groups is Rabbit Chili. We serve our chili with homemade Italian bread and the combo is delicious. Our recipe is very easy as we usually throw in whatever we have on the shelf.

1.5lbs ground rabbit
4 cans of chili ready tomatoes (we like to use our homemade canned ones)
2 cans of your choice of beans
1 can of chili-ready tomato sauce
Salt and pepper to taste

4. What’s a little known fact about you or your farm?
A recent little known fact is that our farm was featured in the November/December 2018 issue of Hobby Farms Chickens Magazine. We were so proud and honored to be highlighted in such a way.

5. What are you most looking forward to about the Whitewater Grocery Co.?
We are so beyond excited to see a grocery option that offers local food and other products. Not only do we think this will offer a healthier lifestyle to the community but it also is a great way to support our local farmers and small businesses. Supporting local is a huge value for ABCDfarmhouse and we do our best to do just that. We also hope to have our soaps on the shelves of the future Whitewater Grocery store!
